Message Nick →The Hemel Air Wing is a mechanical chronograph that masterfully blends vintage aviation and racing watch aesthetics with modern wearability. Designed for enthusiasts who appreciate classic style and robust mechanical performance, this timepiece offers a satisfying hand-winding experience and versatile functionality.
At its core, the Air Wing features a classic bi-compax chronograph dial, inspired by mid-century pilot and military timepieces, ensuring exceptional legibility. The 120-click rotating ceramic bezel, complete with C3 Super-Luminova, adds practical utility for timing various events or tracking a second time zone. Protected by a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the matte black dial with its lumed markers remains clear in all lighting conditions.
The watch is housed in a polished 316L stainless steel case, striking an ideal balance between a purposeful tool watch and comfortable everyday wear. An exhibition screw-down caseback proudly displays the finely finished ST19 hand-winding mechanical movement with its swan-neck regulator, a testament to its mechanical integrity.
Whether paired with its brown leather strap for a sophisticated look or worn in more active settings, the Hemel Air Wing is a versatile, vintage-inspired aviation chronograph ready for any occasion.
How it works
What this watch’s key specs actually mean on the wrist.
A pure mechanical movement you wind yourself — a few turns of the crown each morning become a small ritual. No rotor and no battery means a slimmer case and an unobstructed view of the movement through many casebacks.
Rated to 100m / 10 ATM — genuinely swim-ready. Laps, snorkeling and a day at the beach are all no problem; it just isn't a scuba watch.
Fully wound, this movement stores about 45 hours of running time when it's off your wrist. Enough to comfortably carry it overnight without resetting the time. Power reserve is simply how long the mainspring keeps the watch going once you stop wearing it.
The case measures 40mm across (excluding the crown) — the classic, do-anything size — balanced on most wrists and just as at home with a suit as with a tee. Case size is the single biggest factor in how a watch actually wears, so it's worth picturing against your own wrist.
High-tech ceramic is famously scratch-resistant — it keeps its finish looking new for years — and it never fades, never corrodes, and stays cool-to-warm neutral on the skin. The trade-off is that it prizes hardness over shatter-resistance.
