The Klokers KLOK03 01 Yellow Dot brings the brand’s signature disc-based display into the world of mechanical watchmaking. Priced at an introductory €790, or about $880, it’s the first automatic watch from a company known for its unconventional quartz designs. It trades batteries for a mainspring, all while keeping its slide-rule DNA intact.

Klokers built its identity on the quartz Klok-01, a watch inspired by the circular slide rule invented in 1630. This new KLOK03 collection carries that same design language forward. But now, it's powered by a self-winding movement, a significant shift for the brand and a nod to traditional watchmaking.

Discs and Details: The Klokers KLOK03 01 Yellow Dot

The KLOK03 01 Yellow Dot, reference KO301LEBK, centers on its unique time-telling method. It forgoes traditional hands entirely. Instead, three stepped, rotating discs display the hours, minutes, and seconds.

You read the time against a fixed vertical yellow indicator line and magnifier window at the 6 o’clock position. The outermost disc shows the hours, the middle shows minutes, and the innermost disc tracks the seconds around the bright yellow center dot. This layout transforms the act of checking the time into a more deliberate, instrument-like interaction.

A Familiar Workhorse: The Miyota 82S0 Movement

Inside the KLOK03 is a Japanese Miyota 82S0 automatic caliber. This movement is a known quantity in the industry, used in many watches for its reliability. It provides a 42-hour power reserve, meaning you can take it off for a day and a half before it stops.

The caliber operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, or 3 Hz. It has 21 jewels and supports hand-winding. For any dialhead, this mechanical heart is the most significant departure from Klokers’ previous quartz-only collections.

Case Construction and Wearability

The case is a 40mm round design made from 316L stainless steel with a high-polish finish. Klokers describes the case as ergonomic and suitable for all wrists. The brand does not publish the case thickness or lug-to-lug measurements on the product page.

A sapphire crystal protects the dial discs and features an engraved Klokers logo. The watch has a water resistance rating of 3 ATM (30 meters). This is enough for rain and hand-washing but makes it unsuitable for swimming or showering.

Klokers has replaced its proprietary key-based strap system with standard quick-release spring bars. This means owners of older models can't use their straps, but the KLOK03 is compatible with any 20mm third-party strap.

Strap System: A Major Change

The KLOK03 comes on a 20mm leather strap that’s black on top and red underneath. It uses the brand's "Presto" system, which is a tool-free quick-release spring bar mechanism. This makes swapping straps easy.

This is a key difference from the Klok-01 and Klok-08 models. Those used a proprietary locking key to detach the entire watch head from the strap. The KLOK03’s conventional spring bar system opens it up to a wider world of aftermarket straps but breaks compatibility with the brand's past.

The Klokers Philosophy: Play Your Time

Klokers positions itself as a brand for "free thinkers." The company's philosophy centers on the idea of singularity and finding one's own rhythm. It's about looking at things differently, a concept embodied by its unconventional time displays.

The motto "Play Your Time" reflects a departure from traditional watchmaking's focus on performance and convention. Klokers suggests that time is something to be chosen and engaged with. This approach prioritizes design and personal expression over pure utility.

This focus on a unique visual identity is a trend we've seen across different price points. Brands like Citizen, with The CITIZEN AQ4094-58L Eco‑Drive 50th Anniversary Indigo Washi Paper Dial Limited Edition, use unusual materials to create a distinct aesthetic. Klokers achieves this through mechanical design, making the act of reading time its central feature.

The Takeaway

The Klokers KLOK03 01 Yellow Dot is a design-forward watch that brings an unconventional display to a familiar mechanical platform. At 40mm and with a sub-$1,000 introductory price, it's positioned for those who value a unique aesthetic and the presence of an automatic movement over high-performance specifications like deep water resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What movement is in the Klokers KLOK03?

The Klokers KLOK03 uses the Miyota 82S0, an automatic mechanical movement made in Japan. It features a 42-hour power reserve, 21 jewels, and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour.

How do you read the time on a Klokers watch?

You read the time by observing where the three rotating discs align with the vertical yellow indicator line and magnifier window at the 6 o'clock position. The outer disc is for hours, the middle disc is for minutes, and the inner disc displays the seconds.

Is the Klokers KLOK03 waterproof?

The KLOK03 has a water resistance rating of 3 ATM, which is approximately 30 meters. This makes it splash-resistant and safe for everyday wear involving rain or hand-washing, but it is not suitable for swimming, diving, or showering.

Can I use my old Klokers straps on the KLOK03?

No. The KLOK03 uses a standard 20mm quick-release spring bar system. Straps from previous models like the Klok-01 and Klok-08, which used a proprietary key attachment system, are not compatible.

What is the price of the Klokers KLOK03 01 Yellow Dot?

The official introductory price listed by Klokers is €790. The regular price is stated as €890. Klokers provides an approximate conversion of the launch price to $880, but an official USD retail price is not published.
