Raymond Weil is marking two significant milestones with a single watch: the Freelancer World-Traveller. This new model commemorates the 100th anniversary of founder Mr. Raymond Weil's birth and the 50th anniversary of the Maison he founded in Geneva in 1976. Limited to just 260 pieces, the watch is priced at $4,395.

It combines a caller-style GMT with a full 24-city worldtimer bezel, all housed in a 40mm stainless steel case. The design is explicitly tied to the founder’s passion for travel, creating a functional tool watch with a specific historical context.

This limited edition is defined by its information-rich dial and its commemorative purpose. The production number of 260 units is a direct nod to the dual anniversaries. Every element, from the dial’s signature to the caseback engraving, reinforces this narrative.
A Dial Built for Three Time Zones
The watch provides three simultaneous time displays. Local time is shown via the central hour and minute hands. A dedicated GMT hand tracks a second time zone against a 24-hour flange, which also serves as a day/night indicator.
The third function is a classic worldtimer. A rotating bezel is inscribed with 24 cities, each representing one of the world's primary time zones. By aligning a chosen city with the 24-hour scale, the wearer can read the time anywhere in the world.
The watch combines a caller GMT hand for a second time zone with a rotating 24-city bezel for a global overview. This functional density is the core of the World-Traveller’s design.
At the center is a world map inspired by the Mercator projection, created through stamping and laser-texturing. Champagne-colored continents stand in relief against midnight-blue oceans. This detailed execution will certainly make any dialhead look twice.
One of the most distinct details is the absence of the standard Raymond Weil logo. In its place is a reproduction of Mr. Raymond Weil’s handwritten signature, a direct link to the man being honored.
Case Dimensions and Construction
The Freelancer World-Traveller comes in a 40mm stainless steel case that measures 10.25mm thick. Independent reports note a lug-to-lug distance of around 47.5mm, suggesting dimensions that should be accessible for a wide range of wrist sizes.
Water resistance is rated to 50 meters. This is suitable for daily wear and incidental contact with water, but it positions the watch more as a traveler's dress piece than a rugged sports instrument. It's a different approach than the 100-meter rating and integrated bracelet found on a model like the Bell & Ross BR-05 GMT Green Steel, which is built for more demanding environments.
The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The caseback is also sapphire, offering a view of the movement and engraved with "World-Traveller" and the limited edition number.
The RW3230 Caliber
Powering the watch is the Caliber RW3230, a self-winding mechanical GMT movement. It's based on the Sellita SW330-2 architecture, a known quantity in Swiss watchmaking. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
Its 56-hour power reserve is a practical feature. A fully wound watch can be set down on a Friday evening and picked up Monday morning without needing to be reset. The movement also includes a date function, displayed through a window at 6 o’clock.
The GMT complication is a "caller" type. This means the 24-hour GMT hand is independently adjustable, which is useful for tracking a second time zone from a fixed location.
Editor's Take
The Freelancer World-Traveller packages a caller GMT and a 24-city worldtimer into a 40mm commemorative piece. Its proposition is based on this functional combination and detailed dial work, not on movement exclusivity. It’s built for the collector who values a travel-themed narrative and multi-zone utility in a classically sized case.
Final Details
The watch is fitted with a blue genuine calf leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching. It secures with a stainless steel folding clasp equipped with a double push-security system. The navy-blue leather complements the dial's ocean motif and reinforces its dressier character.
