Islander Northport Divers Get Two Stunning Ripple Dials
By Nick·October 1, 2026· 5 min read
Islander launches two new Northport divers, the ISL-360 and ISL-361, featuring captivating ripple dials inspired by the Long Island Sound and an unbeatable spec list for under $450.
For less than $450, the list of non-negotiable features on a dive watch keeps getting shorter. A sapphire crystal is a given. A solid automatic movement is expected. But a hi-beat caliber, a fully lumed sapphire bezel insert, and a tool-less micro-adjust clasp all in one package? That’s still unicorn territory for most brands. For Islander Watches, it’s just another Tuesday.

The Islander Northport collection has always been about delivering an enthusiast-driven spec sheet for an almost unbelievable price. The latest additions, the ISL-360 and ISL-361, double down on this philosophy. They take the rock-solid Northport foundation and add two of the most captivating dials we’ve seen in this price bracket. Inspired by the waters of the Long Island Sound, these embossed ripple patterns give the watches a dynamic character that punches way above their weight.
Islander, the in-house brand of Long Island Watch, has built its entire reputation on listening to the watch community. It’s a brand born from forums and comment sections, relentlessly tweaking designs and upgrading components based on what collectors actually want. These new Northports are a perfect example of that ethos in action. They don’t just tick the boxes; they deliver the specs collectors thought were out of reach for under $500.
The Islander Northport ISL-360: A Pure White Ripple
First up is the Islander Northport ISL-360, featuring a crisp, clean white ripple dial. This isn’t a flat, sterile white. The embossed wave pattern gives it depth and texture, playing with light in a way that’s genuinely mesmerizing. It’s a design choice that adds a layer of visual interest typically reserved for watches costing three or four times as much.
The case dimensions are spot-on for a modern diver. At 40.5mm in diameter with a 47mm lug-to-lug, it hits the sweet spot for a huge range of wrist sizes. More importantly, the 12.5mm thickness and negative endlinks ensure it wears compactly, avoiding the slab-sided feel that plagues many affordable divers.
Built for a Beating
Islander didn't just focus on the dial. The watch is protected by a flat, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, which is the standard for scratch resistance. But here's the kicker: the 120-click unidirectional bezel also features a sapphire insert. This is a massive upgrade over the typical aluminum inserts, which scratch if you so much as look at them wrong.
Sapphire bezels offer the gloss and depth of ceramic but with superior shatter resistance. And on the Northport, the entire insert is lumed. This creates a spectacular light show in the dark and offers real, functional legibility for timing dives or just pizza in the oven. It’s a premium feature, plain and simple.
The combination of a fully lumed sapphire bezel insert and a tool-less micro-adjust clasp are features you typically hunt for in watches well over $1,000. Islander includes them both for $449.
The fully brushed stainless steel case and bracelet add to the tool-watch vibe. There are no polished surfaces to worry about, just a consistent, rugged finish. The bracelet itself is a seven-link design that feels great, tapering from 20mm at the lugs down to a comfortable 16mm at the clasp. Sizing is easy thanks to screws instead of pins, and the tool-less ratcheting micro-adjust clasp is the final knockout punch. Getting a perfect fit on the fly is a game-changer.
The Islander Northport ISL-361: Khaki Fumé Meets the Sound
If the ISL-360 is the bright, sunny day on the water, the ISL-361 is the moody, dramatic sunset. This version features the same incredible ripple texture but applies a khaki-to-white gradient effect. The dial is a rich, earthy khaki at the edges that fades to a bright, silvery white at the center.
This isn’t just a color swap; it completely changes the watch’s personality. The fumé effect gives the dial a sense of mystery and sophistication. Paired with the ripple texture, it creates a dynamic display that shifts dramatically depending on the angle and lighting. This is the kind of dial you find yourself staring at for no reason.
The Heart of the Matter: Miyota 9015
Underneath that stunning dial is the Miyota 9015 automatic movement. For those of us who obsess over the technical details, this is a big deal. Many watches in this price range use the venerable but low-beat Seiko NH35. The Miyota 9015 is a significant step up.
It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (8 ticks per second), resulting in a noticeably smoother sweep of the seconds hand compared to the 21,600 vph of an NH35. It’s thinner, allowing for the Northport’s relatively slim 12.5mm profile. It also offers hacking and hand-winding capabilities, with a power reserve of about 40 hours. This is the same movement family you'll find in watches from countless well-respected microbrands, often at a higher price.
While we've previously covered another hi-beat Islander in The Islander Northport ISL-155: How to Get a Hi-Beat, Sapphire Diver for $429, the Miyota 9015 here provides that same smooth performance in a proven, reliable package. It’s the engine this thoughtfully designed watch deserves. Everything is tied together by 200 meters of water resistance and a screw-down crown, making this a true go-anywhere, do-anything diver.
Islander continues to deliver an absurd amount of watch for the money. These new Northports are for anyone who wants premium features without the premium price tag. For $449, the spec sheet is simply unbeatable, and the new ripple dials provide the character to match.

The Verdict
Let’s be honest. The sub-$500 dive watch category is arguably the most competitive space in the entire industry. To stand out, a watch needs more than just a decent spec sheet. It needs a point of view. It needs to offer something special.
The new Islander Northport models do exactly that. They combine a best-in-class feature set—hi-beat movement, sapphire everything, an incredible bracelet—with dials that are genuinely beautiful and unique. Whether you prefer the clean, classic white or the moody, complex khaki gradient, you’re getting a watch that feels like it should cost twice as much. This is what happens when a brand listens to enthusiasts, and the result is spectacular.
