For CHF 3,900 (excl. VAT), you can now buy an H. Moser & Cie. watch directly from their website. That sentence alone is a massive curveball from an independent brand famous for minimalist, six-figure mechanical art pieces. The watch in question, the Off-Grid, is not what you think.
It’s not a traditional three-hander, nor is it a full-blown smartwatch competitor. It’s something else entirely. Moser is calling it the "watch enthusiast's digital watch," a hybrid built on the fantastic Streamliner platform.
The Off-Grid is a deliberate step into new territory, which immediately sold out and is now operating on a waiting list. It’s an attempt to bridge the gap between high horology and high tech, without sacrificing the brand’s core identity. This is Moser's answer to a question very few people were asking, and the result is fascinating.

At its core, the Off-Grid is a Streamliner. It retains that beautifully fluid, cushion-shaped case architecture that collectors love. The dimensions are modern but manageable at 42.6mm in diameter. It's not a small watch, but the integrated design helps it conform to the wrist.
The case is crafted from steel integrated with a composite material that completely changes its character. This gives the metal a deep, matte appearance. You have two choices, and they offer surprisingly different vibes.
The first version features a steel case with a blue composite. This is paired with an integrated white rubber strap, creating a bold, high-contrast look. The upper analog dial—a signature Moser touch—is finished in a classic Blackor fumé.
This reference feels more technical and summery. The white strap makes it pop, and the blue case is a distinct departure from the usual stainless steel or precious metal you expect from the brand.
The second model is a more stealthy affair. It uses a darker composite case matched with an integrated black rubber strap. The real surprise here is the upper analog dial, which is rendered in a vibrant Red fumé.
This version is moodier and more aggressive. The flash of red provides a focal point against the otherwise monochrome exterior, a classic "black with a hint of red" color scheme that always works in watch design.

Both versions feature a 12 ATM (120 meters) water resistance rating and a skeletonized dial that reveals how the technology co-exists with traditional watchmaking. This isn't a fragile piece of tech; it's built to be worn.
This is where things get really interesting. The Off-Grid is powered by the Calibre D10, developed for Moser by SEQUENT. This is not a mechanical movement, and Moser isn't pretending it is. It's a highly capable electronic engine.
The power reserve is one of the standout features. In time-display-only mode, the battery will last a full 12 months. With combined usage—including time display, 30 days of alarms, and 4 hours of chronograph use—you’re still looking at a solid 6 months of autonomy. This completely sidesteps the daily-charging headache of most smartwatches.
Moser’s philosophy with the Off-Grid is "less but better," avoiding the avalanche of notifications and data obsession. The watch deliberately rejects mainstream smartwatch bloat to keep you connected to the essential.
The list is impressive: an ‘Off-Grid’ mode with quick country selection, GMT for every time zone, a perpetual calendar, and a perpetual moon phase. You also get sunrise/sunset times, an alarm, a timer, and—in a delightfully quirky Moser twist—a built-in dictionary featuring 10 words in 21 languages.
The chronograph is the showstopper. It’s a split-seconds chronograph with a precision of 1/100th of a second. This is a level of accuracy that is incredibly difficult and expensive to achieve in a mechanical watch, but it’s a natural fit for this calibre.
To help owners navigate this new territory, Moser released a video manual detailing the Off-Grid's functions and settings. Check out the trailer below to see the interface in action:
Despite the digital screen, this watch screams Moser. The key is the dial's split-level design. Up top, you have a small, domed analog dial displaying hours and minutes. It’s a piece of traditional watchmaking art floating above the tech.
The lower half is a skeletonized frame that reveals the digital display. This juxtaposition is the whole point. Moser isn’t hiding the technology; it’s framing it within the context of its own design language.
The H. Moser & Cie. Off-Grid is a solution to a problem most of us didn't know we had. It's for the hardcore mechanical collector who wants a travel or weekend watch with real utility, but can't stomach a generic smartwatch. At CHF 3,900, it's an accessible, if provocative, entry into one of watchmaking's most respected independent brands.
This watch isn't trying to replace your Endeavour Perpetual Calendar. It's meant to be its globetrotting, tech-savvy cousin. For the right person, someone who appreciates Moser's iconoclastic spirit, this might be one of the coolest and most practical releases of the year.
